Daily contest - learning to justify

Each morning in Room 1 the students get to discuss a daily contest before we start the day. The students have to choose the challenger that they think would win the contest and justify why they think they would win. This helps them to be creative improve their oral language. It is lots of fun and it is great to see the students debating with each other over who they think would do better.

Creating games

We are having another go at creating games. This time we are adapting an existing game, some are improving Rob the nest, others are creating a game based on a story. Mr Searle's team are adapting a game based on the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. Mr Searle made up his own game based on the story and the students tried it out. Now they are making changes to make the game better and reflecting on how their changes have worked.

Pukeko Hub's Amazing Race

Students in the Pukeko Hub have spent the past two weeks in Tinana designing activities for our Amazing Race. In small teams the students had to design a small physical challenge to be completed in the race. Teams were given a map and elected a leader that stayed at their activity to run it.

Today the students got to complete the race. The teams were running all around the school to complete the 15 challenges.

When they finished each challenge they were given a fractions question which they had to complete at the end of the race together. So we were integrating Maths and PE together.
