We have spent the last 3 weeks in Tinana designing and refining our own games. Team 1 were designing games using padder tennis bats, tennis balls, cones and large bouncy balls.
Today we shared our games with the other groups and tried each others games. The groups then gave each other feedback about what they liked about the game.

Symmetrical Shapes
Last week we were looking at symmetry as part of our focus on Geometry in Strand maths. The students needed to create symmetrical shapes with 3, 4 and more than 4 sides.
We also had 3 students from Room 1 take part in the school swimming sports on Friday. They a great job representing Room 1 in their races.

Rad Rythym and Tinana
This week Room 1 started Rad Rythym. All the classes in the Patu team are doing it. The students will be learning a performance piece across the term.
In Tinana the students are getting to design their own games using equipment provided. They are working together to develop the rules and will test the games out to see how they go.

Pukeko Home learning reward
Today we held the home learning reward for the students in the Pukeko Hub that had met the home learning requirements for Term 1. To earn the home learning reward students are only allowed to miss one week of home learning.
Those that achieved this got to take part in a range of activities in the middle block today. Water relays, water slide, water fights, and a free time in the pool.

Duathlon - Pukeko Hub
The weather turned out perfect for our annual Triathlon. Due to the poor weather leading up we opted the turn the event into a Duathlon by removing the swim. All the kids were excited and had a great time scootering and running around the course. Thanks to Mr Garner and his team along with all the parents who helped out on the day to make it all happen.
